Residents and visitors to the Schuylkill River at East Falls and Manayunk appreciate this urban oasis of green. These communities provide a unique opportunity to experience nature while taking advantage of all the resources a city neighborhood has to offer. Now more than ever there are opportunities to get involved; volunteer groups surrounding the river and its tributaries, trails and greenspace abound, focusing on the “greening” of our villages along the river.

Volunteers work on cleaning up a section of abandoned railroad along the proposed Ivy Ridge Trail.

As part of the Mayor's Spring Clean Up, volunteers work on the "Lost Arboretum" in East Falls.

Friends of the Manayunk Canal volunteers work on removing invasives along the Manayunk Canal.

Volunteers for National River Clean Up stand on top of all the trash they collected.

Students from Dobson School help out by removing invasives and planting native species of plants.
